Cycling apparel brand MAAP has teamed up with independent sports culture platform Mental Athletic to launch a limited-edition collection that brings together technical performance clothing and everyday apparel. The collaboration combines MAAP’s focus on cycling performance with Mental Athletic’s interest in the relationship between sport, fashion and contemporary culture.
Cycling has changed considerably in recent years. What was once largely defined by performance, competition and traditional team kit has grown into something broader, with clothing, design and personal expression playing an increasingly important role in the sport. The MAAP x Mental Athletic collection looks to build on that shift, bringing a different perspective to how cyclists dress and express themselves, both on and off the bike.
More Than Performance Apparel
Mental Athletic is an independent sports culture platform that explores the connections between sport, art, photography and fashion. Rather than focusing solely on athletic performance, it looks at the wider culture surrounding movement and the people who shape it. Its approach considers cycling not just as a sport, but as part of a broader lifestyle and creative community.
That perspective makes the collaboration a natural fit for MAAP, which has built its reputation around technical cycling apparel and contemporary design. Together, the brands explore a more expansive idea of performance, where the physical demands of riding sit alongside individuality, creativity and personal style.
The collection also challenges the increasingly uniform aesthetic seen across modern culture. Instead of blending into the background, it embraces bold colours, strong visual contrasts and a more experimental approach to cycling apparel.

New York Provides the Backdrop
Shot on the streets of New York City, the campaign places the collection against an urban environment that is anything but predictable. The contrast between the precision of technical cycling clothing and the city’s visual energy provides the backdrop for a series of striking images.
Electric greens, vivid yellows and synthetic magentas feature prominently, creating a palette designed to stand out. The colours do more than improve visibility; they give the collection a distinctive identity that carries beyond the bike.

What’s in the Collection?
The range covers both on-bike performance apparel and pieces designed for everyday wear.
The technical collection includes the Pro Air Jersey 3.0, available in short- and long-sleeve versions, alongside the Team Bib Evo Cargo bibs. A Mesh Short Sleeve Tee and a new Lightweight Vest complete the main cycling offering.

For off-bike use, the collection includes hoodies, T-shirts, caps, socks and accessories. These pieces extend the collaboration beyond riding, allowing the same design approach to carry through into everyday clothing.

Overall, the range has a distinctive style that makes a nice chance to what MAAP’s competitors produce.
